Butchart Gardens

My sister and I visted Butchart Gardens in June of 2008. It had been a cool season and the spring flowers were pretty much cone but the summer flowers were not out yet. I was not sure what we would really see but the very first gardens promised that there was going to still be plenty of color.

I could soon see that their was not attention to detail that was too small. They go to great length making every angle of the garden beautiful

We entered the gardens at lunch time and took time to stop and have a sandwich in one of the little sandwich shops at the Gardens. You can see that even over lunch we could enjoy the garden. I could not believe the beautiful hydrangea's, one of my favorite plants. They remind of the old lady that is always over dressed.

Just when you starting to get a flow of the garden you turn the next bin and there is the biggest surprise.

There is so much to look at, you can see they have a bit of whimsy in the garden. My understanding is that Butchart Garden is owned by a family and is now a 100 years old. The original Gardeners gave the garden to their oldest grandson as a birthday present. It is wonderful that a family could be so creative.

They have a few gift shops at the entrance of the gardens. I took the picture of the pot because Brandi likes black pots and I wanted to show her this flower combination. I love hosts I still fight the snails I hop so day to have a big beautiful hosts like this

They had a small atrium by the restaurant and it was very beautiful. I couldn't resist taking a couple of shots.
